I am a fourth-year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Digital Journalism (BCDJ) at Thompson Rivers University, with a major in Media Studies and a minor in Marketing. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong interest in marketing, social media, media production, and storytelling. My career goal is to work in the communication and marketing field, where I can create meaningful digital content that informs, engages, and connects audiences. I am particularly drawn to roles that allow me to combine creativity with strategy, using media as a tool to tell authentic stories and support organizational goals.
I currently work with the Faculty of Arts at Thompson Rivers University as a Student Communication and Content Creator, where I develop engaging digital content and support strategic communication initiatives. In this role, I have gained hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, graphic design, video editing, photography, and digital storytelling. I also work as a Marketing Coordinator for the TRU Accounting Club, where I help promote events, manage online presence, and support marketing efforts. These experiences reflect TRU’s learning outcome of Engagement, as I actively apply what I learn in the classroom to real-world projects that serve the university community. They also demonstrate Connection, as my work involves collaborating with faculty members, student leaders, and teams to communicate effectively and achieve shared goals.
My portfolio pieces highlight my ability to explore different forms of media production while adapting to various audiences and platforms, which connects to TRU’s learning outcome of Exploration. Through my coursework and work experience, I have learned to use industry tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office 365, Canva, and CapCut to produce professional-quality content. These tools have allowed me to experiment with visual storytelling, branding, and digital media strategies while continuously improving my technical and creative skills.
I take pride in being reliable, observant, and adaptable, qualities that have helped me succeed in fast-paced and collaborative environments. Outside of academics and work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new things, travelling, and watching movies, all of which continue to inspire my creativity and storytelling approach. What makes me unique as a communicator is my long-standing creativity skills, strong work ethic, and ability to combine strategic thinking with authentic storytelling. Through this portfolio, I aim to demonstrate my skills, growth, and readiness to pursue a career in communication and marketing
